Thoughts On Our (Big Bad) Government

"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have."

Not sure who said it, but isn't it apt?

Oh, you are, sadly, SO RIGHT! Speak up while you can! There may be a time soon when any disagreement will be squashed.

I've been railing at anyone who will listen on my political blog...
LEADERSHIP is not present (anywhere) in Washington.
It is extremely worrisome.

But your blog is a bright spot.
I hope Lucky is returned home soon!

So correct, Brin. Like others have said, soon our 'free speech' will be squelched. Tolerance will be afforded to everyone except Christians. It's even happening now.

This is the perfect quote for the mess we are in. Gerald Ford said it. Growing government is not the answer - it is the problem!!

Brin, those are truly words of wisdom! We must stay in prayer for our country!!!

yes, very apt. It makes me nervous!

I hope the girl finds her cat (mentioned in the post below). We briefly lost our dog a few months ago. She ran off for over 24 hours and we were worried sick. We were so glad to have her back. Pets do become such a special part of the family.

My thoughts exactly....I'm very afraid for the direction our new president seems to be leading our country. In the days ahead, I think those of us who are followers of Christ will truly realize we need to rely more and more on our faith in HIM and less and less on him who leads(?)country. We truly do need to pray without ceasing.

yes, I've noticed with my more left wing friends, I get cut down the SECOND I say something "conservative", but yet, they can rant and rave all they want. In this age of "acceptance" the only thing being accepted is the same point of view as the Liberal. Us conservatives (and all Christians) are being majorly discriminated against.

I think the thing that bothers me most is that it is assumed by most people that EVERYONE likes the changes the government is making and promising. It reminds me of a quote that I've read.
"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine."
~Thomas Jefferson.
It's seeming WAY too true these days.

I believe it was Thomas Jefferson.

Gerald Ford may have repeated it, but it was Thomas Jefferson who originally said it.
